Lawyer/Project Lead - EU Environment and Chemicals
We have an excellent opportunity in our Brussels office for a reliable, self-motivated lawyer who thrives in a team environment to join our team. The Project Lead will work on a range of EU environmental law matters, but will be particularly responsible for guiding and coordinating ClientEarth’s chemicals work, which includes the implementation of the EU’s REACH Regulation and implementation of relevant product legislation (e.g. pesticides, cosmetics). There may also be scope to explore work on the circular economy.
The Project Lead will be active in and delivering legal and policy research, drafting and reviewing legal recommendations and other advocacy documents, meeting with decision-makers, collaborating with partners and engaging with social and traditional media. There will be a strong focus both on communicating ClientEarth’s recommendations and legal analyses to decision-makers and on collaborating with other NGOs.
The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer (preferably from an EU Member State) with at least 5 years' relevant experience, excellent legal analysis skills and an interest in using this to support public interest environmental advocacy work. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be professional and confident, already have some knowledge or experience with EU Environmental Legislation, particularly legislation relevant to chemicals.
The role can be offered on full time or part time basis (at 80% FTE).
Salary bracket for this role is €4.150 – €4.450 per month depending on experience (pro-rata for part-time working hours).
