On the 28 January 2026 in Brussels, policymakers, consumer advocates, legal experts, and civil society organisations will gather at the European Parliament for “Label The Future”, a public event dedicated to the future of vegan food labelling in the European Union. The event is co-organised by MEP Sebastian Everding and the Green REV Institute. It aims to address a growing policy gap: despite increasing consumer demand for plant-based products and rising awareness of sustainability, animal rights, and health, the EU still lacks a harmonised and mandatory framework for vegan labelling.
Clear and reliable food information is a cornerstone of consumer protection and a prerequisite for informed, ethical, and sustainable food choices. Yet today, consumers across the Single Market face fragmented rules, voluntary labels, and ongoing political efforts to restrict plant-based terminology. Label The Future will explore how EU policy can respond to these challenges.
The event will feature two panel discussions featuring experts from Safe Food Advocacy Europe, ProVeg & V-Label Belgium, European Vegetarian Union, Safe Food Federation Poland, Animal Advocacy and Food Transition, Fern, The European Institute for Animal Law and Policy, L214.
