The ideal candidate would have the potential to assume responsibility for coordinating the delivery of a number of complex projects and framework contracts.

He/she would have a successful track record of managing projects to the required quality, deadlines and budget in a similar environment, have a clear understanding of the requirements of EU tenders, be diligent and well organised and have strong interpersonal skills. He or she would have experience in policy/consultancy work and a good understanding, as well as interest, in working on environmental issues with particular emphasis on the EU legal and policy framework for water and marine protection. He or she should also have high-level writing and editing skills in English language.

Key tasks will include:

  • Play a significant role in the management of the contract including communication with clients, partners and external experts, as well as internal/external reporting tasks;
  • Lead the production of analytical studies on the management and protection of the environment (with a particular focus on water and marine protection) at the international, EU and regional levels;
  • Lead the drafting of reports and other deliverables in excellent English.

Key qualifications for the position:

  • A degree in environmental sciences, economics, law, political science (or other relevant discipline);
  • Experience in managing complex projects is desirable;
  • Experience in European public policy analysis;
  • Knowledge of the EU, regional and international regulatory/policy framework on the protection of the environment is desirable, in particular in the fields of water and marine protection;
  • Well-organised, practical-minded and able to prioritise a busy and varied work-load;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including diplomacy;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, paying attention to detail;
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Proven ability to write and communicate clearly in English; knowledge of other EU languages is desirable.
