The standards adoption manager will be part of the Corporate Affairs team in Europe. A small, international team, whose role it is to ensure adoption and demand for the RICS qualification and standards, thereby helping to ensure confidence in real estate markets across Europe.

Job Purpose

Working together with RICS staff and our members, you will ensure our standards are understood, and ultimately adopted, by members, markets and governments across Europe. More specifically, you will:

  • Be the go-to person and drive adoption for our standards in Europe;
  • Collate market insights and develop consultation strategies for standards in key markets;
  • Support local staff and senior management on influencing and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the standards development and adoption process;
  • Ensure optimal coordination and act as the go-to person for (international) standards and as central intelligence as well as providing market insight to ensure fit-for-purpose standards development;
  • Identification of stakeholders most critical for standards adoption in Europe;
  • Stakeholder engagement, both direct and indirect;
  • Act as go-to person for colleagues and members;
  • Identify and promote standards related training and accreditation opportunities.

Key Measures/Achievements

The key measures we expect for Europe are:

  • A successful implementation of a dynamic, targeted and joined up approach to standards development and adoption;
  • A significant increase in the understanding and use of our standards by key stakeholders;
  • A market-based and focused approach to activities, outputs and outcomes;
  • A clear market analysis, forward planning and project management that give RICS the edge in insight and timing regarding opportunities;
  • New market opportunities quickly identified and exploited;
  • A positive and supportive working relationship with RICS staff and members.

Experience Required

We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in influencing to create opportunities for the adoption of international and RICS standards.

In addition, we require clear demonstration of:

  • Stakeholder management skills;
  • Project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work on different projects simultaneously;
  • Strong communication and engagement skills;
  • Diplomatic and persuasive with strong planning and organisational skills;
  • Being a team player able to develop constructive relationships at all levels;
  • Cultural and commercial awareness.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • Excellent project management and organisation skills;
  • The ability to work on own initiative to agreed outcomes, against agreed deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team in an international environment;
  • An outgoing and enthusiastic team player with the confidence and poise to represent RICS effectively and professionally with people at all levels;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including business writing, in English and ideally fluency in another European language;
  • Well established IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and database management (preferably CRM);
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
