The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 230 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 168 countries and territories, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy for over 50 years.

We are looking to hire a full-time Programme Coordinator to join our Team based in Brussels. This role is responsible to coordinate the Life For A Child Programme. It is a fixed-term contract of one year which can be renewed.

Purpose of role

Coordinate the Life For A Child Programme to help provide the best possible health care, given local circumstances, to children with diabetes in less-resourced countries, through the provision essential medicines, supplies, and education as well as strengthening existing diabetes services.

Key Responsibilities and activities

  • Helps develop and implement projects to increase action of IDF LFAC Programme;
  • Supports the working groups and operational bodies related to LFAC and represents the IDF Executive Office at related meetings;
  • Helps develop and implement project action plans;
  • Reviews annual partnership agreements and supporting materials;
  • Liaises with funding agencies in collaboration with the Global partnerships team;
  • Supports implementation of project monitoring and evaluation plan in collaboration with key stakeholders;
  • Ensures timely delivery of project outputs;
  • Tracks the progress of projects and reports to key stakeholders;
  • Uses project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures;
  • Keeps IDF Directors and other staff informed of project status and issues that may impact client relations;
  • Prepares and/or edits project documentation;
  • Schedules project follow up meetings as required;
  • Develops and publishes communications to project stakeholders with guidance of communications team;
  • Coordinates the promotion of the programme;
  • Informs programme funders of activity and results;
  • Coordinates the administrative procedures.

Skills/Competencies/Experience

  • Holds a Master’s degree or equivalent;
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ professional experience, preferably in the field of diabetes education and care;
  • Has good knowledge of project management;
  • Is action-oriented, pragmatic and results-driven;
  • Has native-level fluency in written and spoken English and French or Spanish;
  • Accustomed to managing competing priorities and deadlines;
  • Can work with minimal supervision;
  • Understands the not-for-profit sector;
  • Has a dedicated commitment to health issues, with empathy for the diabetes cause;
  • Would thrive in a multicultural and international environment;
  • Embraces IDF’s values, ethics and beliefs.
