ESMA is organising a selection procedure to recruit Policy Officers, and establish a list of suit-able candidates, which can be employed in the Markets Department.

The selection is focusing on multiple profiles linked to the implementation of regulations like the development of the technical standards and supervisory convergence measures and the drafting of the reporting requirements (i.e. Benchmark, EMIR, SFTR, MiFID II/MiFIR, MAR).

The Markets Department of ESMA is responsible for the rule-making and supervisory conver-gence tasks related to market infrastructures (at the trading and post-trading levels) and sec-ondary markets conduct rules.

Main duties:

Under the responsibility of the Head of Department and/or respective Head of Unit/Team Lead-er, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • conducting policy and analytical work in the relevant area;
  • contributing to ESMA’s work on drafting technical standards, advice, opinions, guidelines and Q&As under relevant regulation;
  • participating and providing support to various project streams;
  • supporting the work of the relevant Standing Committees or Task Forces;
  • supporting the analysis of data for regulatory purposes;
  • contributing to ESMA’s work in promoting the consistent application of EU law by National competent Authorities;
  • representing ESMA in meetings with internal and external stakeholders; and
  • fulfilling other tasks assigned to the jobholder.

Eligibility criteria

То be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all the eligibility criteria listed below, by the deadline for submitting applications:

  • Have at least a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of three years attested by a diploma, and after having obtained the diploma, one year of proven professional experience;
  • be a national of a Member State of the European Union or the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland);
  • enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  • have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service;
  • produce the appropriate character references as to their suitability for the performance of their duties;
  • have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union and a satis-factory knowledge of another language of the European Union; and
  • be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post.

Essential requirements

  • Minimum one year of professional experience in financial markets/services;
  • Knowledge (acquired by academic training or professional experience) of financial markets;
  • Excellent written and oral English.

Advantageous requirements)

  • Knowledge (proven by academic training or professional experience) of the EU regulatory requirements on data reporting and benchmarks;
  • Experience (proven by professional experience) in financial benchmarks OR in data analysis, data management, data modelling, data mining or quantitative analysis;
  • Work experience in a multicultural environment; and
  • Motivation for the advertised position.
