EMBL is committed to raising awareness of issues facing women, men and minority groups in science. We want to address and challenge preconceptions, and inspire staff of all backgrounds at different stages in their scientific careers, removing impediments to equality and career progression.
As a consequence of this commitment to equality and diversity, EMBL is seeking an experienced Equality and Diversity Officer, able to take a strategic approach to developing and embedding plans, policies and practices that will bring improved equality and diversity to EMBL. In this new role, you will work closely with leadership and staff at Heidelberg and in EMBL's other sites, coordinating activities and extending pilot projects. You will also network outside of EMBL, attending conferences and events to bring existing best practice in the area of equality and diversity into EMBL.
Reporting to the Chair of EMBL´s Equality and Diversity Committee and located at EMBL's Heidelberg headquarters, you will work closely with the Equality and Diversity Officer based at EMBL-EBI in Hinxton. You will be part of EMBL's Equality and Diversity Committee, convening and minuting meetings and coordinating the activities of its working groups. In addition, you will develop an equality and diversity action plan which will establish a clear direction and actions to bring about change.
You will work very closely with the Chair of the Equality and Diversity committee on helping to fulfil its goals, and widely with other colleagues across the organisation's sites. A key stakeholder will be the Human Resources Team, as one of the key tasks will be to analyse human resource data to establish a statistical benchmark and produce annual statistical reports and charts thereafter.
We are looking for a person with a demonstrated track record in the field of Equality and Diversity, with good strategic vision, able to both conceive and implement an equality and diversity action plan. You are an enthusiastic self-starter with the flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing equality and diversity landscape and to take on new tasks as and when they occur.
