We are currently recruiting for a Manager, Board Relations/Affairs to serve as a strategic partner to Save the Children’s Board Chair and Board of Trustees, and act as their primary point of contact and support for board strategy and planning, agenda development, and communications. Key partners to this role will be Save the Children’s global CEO and senior leadership team.

In this role you will provide specific support to the Board Chair in terms of managing the agenda, compiling preparatory documents, providing briefings and following up on actions in regards to external/internal engagements. You will coordinate with relevant stakeholders in regards to requests for the Chair’s participation/support/appearances etc. and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders to coordinate on Board communications and actions.

You will also work closely with the CEO and other members of senior leadership team to identify and discuss issues that require Board review, ensuring relevance and considering the perspective of Board members in reviewing board materials and anticipating any questions from Board members. You will also act as the lead/liaison to each board committee and support Board consideration of strategic issues in committee, with the appropriate level of detail.

In order to be successful you will bring:

  • Experience of working in a similar role with a Board, senior management, or similar governance level is essential (preferably in an international context);
  • Demonstrable knowledge of board practice and management;
  • A proven ability to build and influence strong and effective relationships at a senior level;
  • A demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects and/or competing priorities successfully under time pressure;
  • Strong numerical skills and ability to anticipate cost implications, with a focus on being budget conscious;
  • Excellent planning, administrative and organisational skills. A demonstrable ability to plan ahead, devise and manage work plans, and to anticipate requirements and obstacles;
  • High standards of professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive information in strict confidence;
  • The ability to draft well-written, professionally presented correspondence on behalf of the Chair;
  • A flexible and adaptable working style;
  • The ability to travel internationally for meetings (usually 3-4 times a year);
  • A strong level of commitment and the willingness and ability to support out of work hours, on occasion, and for specific reasons.

This role could be based in any existing Save the Children location. National terms and conditions will apply.
