1. The Job

The Regulatory Officer will work in the Directorate for Prioritisation and Integration of the Agency, in the Prioritisation Unit. S/he will work in close collaboration with Member State authorities, other EU agencies and the Commission, and with other internal teams in ECHA.

The Prioritisation Unit coordinates the identification and prioritisation of groups of substances requiring further regulatory actions at the EU level and supports the identification of the appropriate regulatory measures. It manages the prioritisation and listing of substances on the Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) and on the Authorisation List (Annex XIV Recommendation).

The main tasks of the Regulatory Officer include:

  • Contribute to the implementation of ECHA’s approach to managing groups of substances (including building the groups based on structural similarity and uses, assessing the regulatory status of substances, analysing the best strategy for generating the necessary information and managing the concerns together with chemistry and hazard experts);
  • Contribute to the identification of the most appropriate regulatory management instruments under REACH and CLP Regulations and under other EU legislation to address the identified concerns;
  • Support timely initiation of the identified regulatory measures by the Member States or ECHA, on request of the Commission;
  • Identify needs, engage and co-operate with other EU authorities and Member States to strengthen the interactions between REACH/CLP and other EU legislation and to promote efficient use of REACH/CLP data for the implementation of other legislation.

2. Minimum Qualifications

a) Successful completion of a full course of university studies attested by a degree, where the normal duration of university education is four (4) years or more.

Or

b) Successful completion of a full course of university studies attested by a degree, where the normal duration of university education is three (3) years and at least one (1) year of appropriate professional experience.

Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities or EEA authorities and qualifications recognised as equivalent by the relevant EU or EEA Member State authorities will be accepted.

3. Professional Experience

To qualify for this profile, you must have at the closing date for applications a total professional experience of at least six (6) years acquired after achieving the minimum requirements stated out in 2.2. At least four (4) years of your total professional experience must be relevant professional experience in the fields listed in section 1.

4. Selection criteria

If you meet the eligibility criteria set out in section 2, you will be assessed on the basis of the following selection criteria. The candidates who are judged to be the most suitable on the basis of the selection criteria will be invited to an interview.

  • Your academic and professional qualifications and their relevance to the main areas of work listed in section 1;
  • Your professional experience in the range of fields covered, the length, type and level of work done and its relevance7 to the areas of work listed in section 1.

The following will be considered as assets:

  • Experience in work requiring multiple expert disciplines and interaction with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Work experience gained in a similar multicultural environment. Preference will be given to work experience abroad.

The academic and professional qualifications, professional experience and knowledge and experience considered as an asset must be described as precisely as possible in your application.
