This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental/energy lawyer to join ClientEarth's Energy Programme, working on legal aspects of the energy transition in Asia. The overall goal of the Energy Programme is to accelerate the global transition to a clean, flexible and competitive energy system.
Much of the global new coal threat is located in Asia, and the successful candidate will be helping develop legal strategies to address this threat. There will be a strong emphasis on working with civil society, including key existing partners, as well as establishing new partnerships and relationships. The lawyer will work closely with other lawyers from across our Energy, Climate and Clean Air teams.
The role is based in ClientEarth's London, Brussels or Berlin offices, and will report to the Coal Lead (based in London). There will be some expectation of travel.
The successful candidate will be an experienced environmental/energy lawyer, ideally with some experience of working in Asia/with Asian clients. They will need to be extremely versatile, able to work across a broad, fast-moving mix of legal and factual circumstances. A strong commitment to securing the energy transition is essential.
