The European General Galvanizers Association is looking for a new staff member to develop its market presence.

About the Association

European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the industry organisation for Europe’s batch hot dip galvanizing sector as a protective coating for steel products. It is a federation of the National Associations that serve the industry.

EGGA provides a platform for coordination of marketing and other initiatives for the industry. Thus, EGGA monitors and responds to external issues affecting the general galvanizing industry in Europe, in particular environmental, technical and regulatory matters. EGGA also provides a platform for coordination of marketing and other initiatives for the industry.

Today, EGGA represents about 600 general galvanizing plants (mostly SMEs) employing an estimated 40,000 people in Europe.

About the role

This new staff position within the EGGA team will help the association drive cooperative projects across Europe to identify and exploit opportunities for further market growth. This will be performed by an enthusiastic advocate for hot dip galvanizing technology to exploit those opportunities through presentations and direct contact with decision-makers in the target segments. You may also support other association functions, for example, in European affairs that can also affect the industry’s markets.

As such, the Market Development Executive will work closely with the association’s Marketing Committee to identify and explore segments in which market opportunities exist.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a university degree in a relevant field (e.g. EU affairs, economics, law, communications) with degrees from other fields also to be considered;
  • Have excellent communication and negotiation skills (written and oral);
  • Be comfortable with active reach-out activities to drive the industry’s market role forward, e.g. speaking at conferences;
  • Have some experience in market/business development activities (B2B);
  • Possess an understanding of EU decision-making processes;
  • Be a fluent English speaker (with other languages being an asset).

Technical knowledge of the engineering or construction industries would be an asset but is not a requirement.

This position will be based in EGGA’s new Brussels office - but your location may be flexible. Flexibility to travel regularly within Europe is required.
