UNIT: Global Products, Policy & Programs
REPORTS TO: Director of Global Products, Policy & Programs
Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a partnership between producers and consumers. Fairtrade offers producers a better deal and improved terms of trade. This allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and plan for their future. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty through their everyday shopping.
Fairtrade International is the international non-profit, multi stakeholder body that is responsible for the strategic direction of Fairtrade, sets Fairtrade standards and supports producers.
The Global Products, Policy & Programmes Unit is made up of a team of Global Product Managers and Senior Advisors in key thematic areas who provide advisory services to the Fairtrade system, in order to ensure coherent system-wide implementation of mission critical strategies.
The Senior Advisor Climate and Environment provides leadership to the Fairtrade International System to pursue its mission to empower smallholder farmers and workers dealing with environmental challenges. S/he will drive the development and implementation of generic and product specific strategies and coordinate system-wide interventions in this regard with Producer Networks, National Fairtrade Organisations, other relevant parts of the Fairtrade system and partners from outside the system.
The Senior Advisor will work in close coordination with relevant FI bodies and committees and in particular with producers and their networks as key stakeholders taking into consideration best practice approaches and the state-of-the-art academic debate related to climate and environment.
Please note that Fairtrade International is strict on compliance with the required qualification criteria mentioned above, and only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
