This is a part-time (20h) associative anagement role for an independent professional established in the European affairs sector in Brussels. The successful candidate will manage the Brussels-based representative body for consultants, trade, NGO’s, lawyers and in-house professionals active in the European affairs sector. The performance of the role will include the provision of services concerning the general administration and management of the association, coordination of board meetings and execution of board decisions.

The successfull candidate will have demonstrated hability to successfully manage associative projects, strong interpersonal skills, and the hability to be organised, resourceful, and a problem-solving oriented personality. The candidate will likewise have demonstrated the intention to pursue and/or develop a carreer in the European affairs sector.

The contractual tasks include:

  • Organisation of board meetings: Sending of convocatories, preparation of agendas in cooperation with presidency and vice-presidency, drafting the minutes of the meetings, promotion of legal publications of documents in the Belgian jurisdiction;
  • Organisation and programmation of the associations’ activities:
    • Policy-level: Provide operational support to SEAP’s organs – Policy and Communications Committee and the Board of Directors – in the development of their tasks. Develop, help execute, and measure a public affairs strategy that serves SEAP’s policy priorities, and advise leadership of strategies;
    • Events: Provide operational support for the organisation of events, namely, through the sending of invitations and monitoring of responses, the coordination of logistical and technical details for the organisation of events (monitoring of event registrations, management of member, press and social media outreach concerning events, ensure technical and logistical organisation of events);
    • Administrative-level: Proceed to the annual invoicing of members and monitoring thereof. Regularly present financial reports to the board of directors. Manage daily and current expenses in cooperation with the board of directors. Handle members and external stakeholder requests for information;
    • Digital management: Management of the associations websites and social networks. Previous experience managing wordpress websites and/or social media networks is consider a strong asset. Previous experience creating and producing digital content for social media networks is also a strong asset.

The successful candidate will be in a position to initiate an independent activity in the jusrisdiction of Belgium.

Qualifications:

  • University degree (degree in law, politics, international relations or European affairs an advantage);
  • Keen understanding of the European institutions and local political/working environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven performer with experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency, association or public relations agency; proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements;
  • Demonstrated organisational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media;
  • Understanding of digital and social platforms;
  • Strategic thinking and analytical ability;
  • Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation in associative contexts;
  • Exercise a high level of independent judgment even in challenging, complex situations;
  • High level of understanding of the political and economic landscape, decision-making process and procedures in the European Union.
