THE EUROPEAN UNION AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT IN AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION DEALING WITH EU AFFAIRS IS RECRUITING: European Parliament Relations Advisor.

The Department is responsible for maintaining the relations with the European Parliament. Our main objectives are to facilitate and enhance political and regulatory relationships with the EU and to foster bilateral understanding of the different political landscapes. This is carried out by reviewing relevant political and legislative activity proposed or adopted by the European Parliament and by the EU Institutions in general.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conducting monitoring and analysis of European regulation in various areas and its impact on third country industries;
  • Participating in discussions, working groups and committees in the field of political and legislative frameworks in the European Parliament;
  • Ongoing monitoring of developments in EU legislation;
  • Handling inquiries from companies and institutions and political bodies from various relevant fields;
  • Assistance in drafting position papers, conducting background research as required;
  • Data collection, analysis and preparation of political and legislative reviews;
  • Knowledge and experience in working with the most popular social media;
  • Meeting with third-country representatives and also relevant stakeholders in order to gather relevant information and report to headquarters;
  • Contribution to the preparation of policy notes, presentations, and briefing material that are clear, concise and relevant for policy makers;
  • Writing content, editing and uploading to newsletters and departmental websites;
  • Coordination and organization of incoming and outgoing delegations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A university degree, with preference to an advanced degree in international relations, political sciences, law, business or related subjects, preference to having links to the international political dimension;
  • Familiarity with EU institutions and their work or relevant experience in work that integrates an interface with EU institutions, with a specific preference for experience in working with the European Parliament;
  • Genuine interests towards different political topics that are at the base of the positive working agenda of the European Institutions and in particular Parliament;
  • Proven capacity for sound analytical and policy-orientated work; ability to execute effectively project assignments; proven ability to synthesize technical and policy-orientated issues at governmental or intergovernmental level;
  • Proven ability to master new topics rapidly, and to draft clear and concise material, including under short deadlines;
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently and excellent interpersonal skills in a multicultural working environment;
  • Fluency in English (writing, reading and speaking). Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

Additional Information

  • Contract under Belgian law;
