Job description


Human Technopole is looking for the Head of HR and Organisational Development.

The Head of HR and Organisational Development, reporting to the Director of Administration, will define, lead and implement the Foundation HR strategy to contribute to the organisational and human capital development. She/he will build strong interactions with Heads of both administrative and scientific departments and areas. The role, with the support of a team of experts in different aspects of HR, that the candidate will contribute to building, will also nurture a healthy work environment, in line with the policies, procedures, legislative requirements, and best practices worldwide.

S(he) will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction and counsel in all HR disciplines (Recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organisational development, payroll and HR administration, learning and development, evaluation and performance management, processes and policies, reporting and compliance, services to employees);
  • Develop and propose HR strategies, policies, guidelines and tools as needed;
  • Ensure that HT employment practices are compliant with labour law and the policies and procedures of the Foundation;
  • Promote human capital development and organisational wellbeing, in line with the Foundation’s Code of Ethics and principles of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity;
  • Plan and control costs and resources, working on the HR budget and plans with all departments;
  • Design, implement and coordinate an efficient and effective on-boarding and orientation processes for new employees and design a process by which staff is aware and constantly updated about the HT mission and values as well as the organisation’s policies and internal rules;
  • Support international hiring and constantly improve international staff onboarding and mentoring;
  • Develop and implement plans for non-scientific training of staff and career development;
  • Define and implement operational processes across scientific and administrative areas to support the growth of the organisation;
  • Design and implement procedures for interns, trainees, visiting students, visiting scientists and other types of occasional scientific collaborations in collaboration with Strategy and Scientific Affairs;
  • Implement consultant and contractor resources as needed;
  • Advise managers and team leaders regarding organisational structure and human capital development;
  • Provide advice and guidance for performance reviews and change processes;
  • Ensure analytics and reporting systems, together with compliance, are implemented and updated;
  • Support the development of the Foundation identity, working with the Internal Communications on HT values, mission and vision, contributing to the establishment of a diverse, inclusive culture.

Job requirements

  • Masters Degree, preferably in HR, Business Administration, Law, Sociology or related subjects;
  • 10 or more years in a previous managerial role gained in large organisations with an international outlook. Previous experience in a Research institution or in the Life science sector will be considered as a plus, as well as knowledge of public sector/non-profit HR management;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Experience in all of the disciplines of HR;
  • Experience with international hiring and transfer procedures;
  • Significant experience with complex and fast growing organisations;
  • Proven leadership, communication, team building and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work with a diverse team with tact, diplomacy discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality;
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who are part of the protected categories list, according to L. 68/99.
