The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), is looking for a policy fellow to join its EU team, based in Brussels, to support ITI's policy advocacy on key EU digital policy initiatives. We are looking for a young, dynamic colleague with some work experience in and familiarity with the EU policy world, to join our team for a 6-month contract (possibly renewable).

ABOUT THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY COUNCIL (ITI):

Originally founded in 1916 and globally headquartered in Washington, DC, the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) is the premier advocacy and policy organization for the world's leading innovation companies. ITI advocates for public policies that advance innovation, open markets, and enable the transformational economic, societal, and commercial opportunities that our companies are creating. ITI members represent the entire spectrum of technology from internet companies, to hardware and networking equipment manufacturers, to software developers. ITI’s diverse membership and expert staff provide a broad perspective and intelligent insight in confronting the implications and opportunities of policy activities around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy proposals in the EU as well as related events;
  • Assist in drafting fact sheets, position papers, letters, comments, and other written materials for policymakers;
  • Assist in the dissemination of ITI’s advocacy material;
  • Support the drafting of ITI’s monthly policy updates and other internal or external updates;
  • Attend and produce summaries of the monthly Europe Committee as well as external events if needed;
  • Providing meeting support for internal and external events, including meeting promotion, recruitment, confirmation and follow up, and meeting logistics and operations;
  • Maintaining and regularly updating the Europe team submissions to the ITI policy tracker spreadsheet;
  • Maintain tracking sheets for policy developments, industry contacts, and other data as necessary;
  • Collect material, ideas and produce drafts for ITI’s monthly Europe Newsletter;
  • Assist in the drafting of strategic recommendations and other written products for ITI members.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum six months to one year of experience on relevant EU policy issues;
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of technology policy or EU affairs;
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting information;
  • Exposure or experience in public administration or industry;
  • Open source research, writing, editing, and verbal communication skills;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 required;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • Additional competency in French, German or another EU language preferred;
  • Recent graduate in political science, law, public policy, international affairs/relations, economics, technology policy (e.g., cybersecurity, international trade, consumer protection, data/privacy or other relevant field.

Time Frame:

  • 6-month fellowship contract under the Belgian CIP (Convention d’immersion professionnelle) framework, with a compensation of 1200 EUR/month.
