The EU DisinfoLab is looking for a Communications and Events officer.

The Communications and Events Officer is responsible for EU DisinfoLab’s communications with different audiences, including experts, policymakers, journalists, and other NGOs working to tackle disinformation.

After onboarding, you will:

  • Draft the bi-monthly newsletter, a reference for the counter-disinformation community (+2600 members).
  • Lead the organisation’s communications actions including our social media channels (+35000 followers on Twitter) including planning, writing, publishing and analysing impact of these actions
  • Lead the communications’ activities for projects we participate in (including the European Digital Media Observatory Belgium-Luxembourg)
  • Regularly update the EU DisinfoLab website, so it can be an up-to-date resource for the community countering disinformation as well as for journalists and media.
  • Maintain good relationship with journalists and media reporting on disinformation
  • Organise the logistics of events of the EU DisinfoLab from A to Z, including our annual conference which gathers +200 world-leading experts in the counter-disinformation field
  • Conduct quality checks and evaluations throughout the entire process of event planning and execution.
  • Coordinate team members to assist with the pre-event process.
  • Liaise and build relationships with event speakers.
  • Assist with the design of programmes when needed.
  • Oversee the budget and finances of the conference.
  • Organise monthly webinars, involving researching topics of interest and sourcing speakers.
  • Contribute to editing/proofreading communications and documents published by our Research Team.

Your profile:

  • You are a curious person with a can-do attitude and are solution-oriented;
  • Excellent organisation skills, with a good eye for detail and an ability to multi-task, plan ahead without losing track of priorities and tasks;
  • You care about your colleagues, your team and your working environment;
  • At least two years’ experience in communications and/or events in Brussels;
  • Educational background in political science, international relations, European studies, communications, journalism or a related field;
  • You have an affinity for digital issues, with a societal and political focus;
  • Good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions, especially the European Parliament and the EU Council.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Good use of graphic design tools and WordPress is a plus;
  • You have native or near-native English language skills. Additional European languages will be considered an asset.
