JOB OBJECTIVE

The ISN is seeking a strategic project manager to manage a range of internal and external marketing and communication activities and content that promote the ISN, its role as a global leader in advancing kidney health worldwide, and all its various activities in education, grants, research, advocacy and events.

The ideal candidate would have seasoned experience in managing projects for international organizations, with a background/training in marketing/communications.

The Marketing & Communications Project Manager reports to Ass. Dir. Project Manager and oversees 3 team members.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning

  • Together with the Ass. Dir. Project Manager, develop and implement communications and marketing strategies that assist ISN in achieving its organizational objectives and helps maximize its message;
  • Together with the Ass. Dir. Project Manager, liaise with different departments to ensure that an integrated digital marketing and communications plan is in place to support the promotion of each department/activity (Education, Programs, Events, Advocacy, Membership);
  • Regularly monitor analytics and metrics tools, assess and adapt performance and marketing tactics of communication plans.

Project Management: Digital Communications & Publications

  • Via a virtual project management platform, manage the scheduling/flow of external and internal communications across multiple channels (e-mail, newsletters, website, social media) within a team of 4; actively monitor analytics and assess/adapt strategy as needed;
  • Working with the ISN Graphic Designer, manage the creation and maintenance of marketing and promotional materials, both print and electronic. Materials may include presentations, brochures, banners, signage, biennial report, ad placements, leaflets, post cards;
  • Review existing external/internal communications strategies and tools and advise on new and potential opportunities.

Branding

  • Manage organizational branding, including overseeing relationships with external vendors;
  • Produce and regularly update a clear set of brand and style guidelines and policies for the organization;
  • Manage the development and updating of the ISN’s marketing and communications tools and templates (such as PPT templates and other communications tools).

Events

  • Manage the organization’s visibility and presence at ISN and stakeholder events, virtual and in-person;
  • Manage/oversee the development of event comms packages, booth design and development, liaison with external vendors, etc.; all in line with the organization’s branding and strategic priorities.

Social media

  • Liaise with the ISN’s Social Media Manager to ensure strategies and project calendars of external communications and social media are aligned.

Team management and support

  • Together with the Ass. Dir. Project Manager, oversee and line manage the CopyWriter, Graphic Designer and MarCom Coordinator, as well as possible temporary staff and interns;
  • Work with the marcoms team to set individual career development goals and annual strategic priorities, including conducting annual evaluation and appraisal processes;
  • Identify and implement tools (together with Ass. Dir. Project Manager) to support project and team management.

Budget

  • Support the Ass. Dir. Project Manager on the development and oversight of the ISN’s Marketing and Communications budget, ensuring that programmatic and strategic targets and deliverables are met on time and within budget.

Skills & Competencies

Required skills and qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • High proficiency in English - preferably mother tongue English with other languages considered an advantage;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly skilled in writing clear and concise communications for various communication tools, including print and online (website, emails and social media);
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities;
  • Experience with project management tools;
  • Experience managing publications and/or e-communication products calendar for an organization;
  • Proven track-record of successful marketing and branding campaigns;
  • Proven experience creating targeted content;
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure;
  • Experience managing external vendors;
  • Experience managing a small team;
  • Strong social and presentation skills;
  • Self-starter, energetic and pro-active;
  • Flexibility on work hours and location.

Technical requirements

  • Proficiency with software applications including MS Office (excel, word, power point, outlook, etc.);
  • Experience developing power point templates;
  • Familiarity with on-the-cloud systems such as Microsoft 365 Apps.;
  • Proficiency with CMS (Wordpress, Drupal, and/or Joomla);
  • Knowledge/experience working with HTML and CSS products;
  • Graphic design skills and solid experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign;
  • Solid experience managing email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Pardot), creating campaigns, templates, eblasts, reports, etc.;
  • Experience with Google Analytics, creating reports and using insights to inform. Experience with other marketing tools desired;
  • Experience with Google Adwords and SEO;
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce, MemberSuitefor example).

The Society represents a wide international network and provides an efficient platform for timely scientific exchange, debate and dissemination between healthcare professionals around the world. It is also dedicated to addressing the disparity between the developing and developed worlds in the research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of kidney disease.

The ISN has 10,000 professional members from more than 126 countries. In addition, it closely collaborates with over 70 national and regional nephrology societies worldwide, representing about 20,000 professionals. The ISN continues to develop and consolidate several programs, initiatives and partnerships that will help to further deliver on its two overarching goals: reducing the incidence and impact of kidney disease worldwide, and making the society a leading international organization for all issues related to the science and practice of nephrology.
