EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to provide a data-driven approach to support decision making and project management to support the delivery of the EMBL-EBI data services portfolio.
The EMBL-EBI makes a variety of biomolecular data openly available to support life sciences research via resources that are used millions of times each day. They operate under diverse funding, partnership and governance models, playing key roles in large international research projects, European data infrastructures, and within the EMBL 2022-2026 scientific programme.
On a technical level, the resources have deep interdependencies and are run by a staff of around 600 people, organised into teams and larger sections. This is a complex organisation that also has many outward facing responsibilities, for example, providing input and leadership in a variety of forums on matters relating to data management, data reuse, and open science.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will initiate and maintain information on various aspects of data resource usage, data resource workflows, funding, staffing, budget use, and impact analysis pertaining to the EMBL-EBI services. The intelligence gathered will support and inform the strategic goals of the EMBL-EBI services. This will require you to work with Associate Directors and other senior staff across the organisation to prioritise and translate information requirements into specifications for data gathering and analysis. A collaborative approach to the role will therefore be essential. You will perform data analysis and present results in both internal and external management and governance forums. If you are passionate about open science and how best to both deliver and demonstrate the impact of open data resources, then this is an opportunity to contribute to the effective management of these services.
The post will be based at the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton near Cambridge; however, it is a requirement of employment that the post holder be prepared to travel.
At EMBL-EBI you can apply your talent and passion to accelerate science and tackle some of humankind's greatest challenges. EMBL-EBI, part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, is a worldwide leader in the storage, analysis and dissemination of large biological datasets. We provide the global research community with access to publicly available databases and tools which are crucial for the advancement of healthcare, food security, and biodiversity.
We are located on the Wellcome Genome Campus, alongside other prominent research and biotech organisations, and surrounded by beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. This is a highly collaborative and inclusive community where our employees enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. We are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued, supported and empowered to reach their professional potential.
