Purpose of the job

Provide Environmental and Regulatory support to all stakeholders within the Samsung organization (Product management, Legal, Customer Service, Sales divisions etc. in SEACE and teams in Europe) and related partners (distributors, installers and service partners) in order to ensure the best support for Environmental and Regulatory compliance and operation in Europe. Securing proper coordination with R&D in Samsung HQ to warrantee that the product design meet all the EU regulation requirements. Active in associations to promote and protect Samsung’s interests and monitor relevant developments.

Job Content

External trend and representation:

  • Identify legal obligations with regards to product-related Environmental, Sustainability, Energy consumption and Eco design;
  • Keep track of new developments and changing legislation;
  • Active participation in different forums and regular meetings and working groups with associations. An Example is the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE), with a highly technical level of discussion and feed early direction and warning back to HQ with regards to possible impact on business and product development;
  • Represent the company in key industry forums and conferences (Communication WG+, EHPA MCO);
  • Connecting with, and lobbying in the associations with regards to new or changing legal obligations, technical standards and certification requirements and securing Samsung’s best interest;
  • Commercial certifications: owning and coordinating with R&D in HQ the process of commercially required technical certifications. This considers key mile stones like budgeting, process, join PC (Program Committee) and coordination. Some example of these certifications are: - EU: Eurovent, HP Keymark. Local: MCS (UK), EHPA Q Label, NTA8800 (NL);
  • Follow up of local incentives given in the different countries among the EU and provide advice and support to the Product Marketing team, working in close cooperation with the team in the local subsidiaries to be up to date on the latest trends. List and prioritize the most impactful incentive programs by country and make sure our products meet technical requirements. Examples of these are: ContoTermo (Italy), BAFA (Germany), etc.

Internal responsibility and stakeholder management:

  • Accurate internal reporting of developments regarding Environmental and Legal (product-related) obligations and topics discussed with the associations and industry forums;
  • Maintaining close contacts with our EU RIGA team;
  • Bring expertise and deep knowledge of market needs, identify pain points and problems, sense industrial and regulatory requirements and product-market trend therefore potential to support product innovation in a sustainable way;
  • Research in-depth market and competitor movements on ongoing basis and articulate actionable implications with regards to Environment and sustainability;
  • Act as the Environmental and Sustainability product champion by actualizing vision and strategy.

Liaise with and support others:

  • Provide Environmental and Regulatory related inputs for marketing collaterals such as catalogue, website, white paper etc.;
  • Constantly evaluate and drive improvements in product strategy to expand sales growth and profitability;
  • Supporting with Environmental audits (providing information and documentation);
  • Supporting local SEACE colleagues in Europe with requests regarding product-related Environmental, Sustainability, Legislation and processes.

Functional/Technical Skills

  • Self starter, creative and problem solving skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Accurate and secure working;
  • Admin knowledge (invoices, credits, reporting);
  • Good knowledge Operating Systems (Windows);
  • MS Office knowledge;
  • Excellent Excel skills;
  • Good communicational skills.

Profile (experience)

  • Bachelor degree (preferably a Master degree);
  • Senior professional with 10+ years relevant experiences and network in HVAC industry;
  • High degree of technical knowledge with HVAC/mechanical/thermal engineering background;
  • Acumen with European policies, regulations and certifications;
  • Required specific Environmental knowledge (sustainability, F-gas, Eco-design);
  • Experiences to join technical associations such as EPEE, EHPA and able to translate implications to technical product requirements;
  • Effective communicator with Business fluency in English, German is a plus;
  • Samsung DNA: Flexible, Dynamic and Committed;
  • Good network.
