Missing Children Europe is looking to recruit a Ukrainian and Russian speaking Project Officer to coordinate activities in the field of missing children in the context of the war on Ukraine. This includes support to set up more 116 000 hotlines in the European region.

Tasks:

The helpdesk officer will support the Secretary General and Project Officer for Hotlines in coordinating activities in the field of missing children in relation to the war on Ukraine. The helpdesk officer will:

  • Coordinate with national members to jointly manage cross border cases of missing children from Ukraine and ensure they are reunited with their families as fast and safely as possible;
  • Support our Ukrainian member NGO Magnolia in updating our information on Ukrainian missing children cases and keeping track of the numbers;
  • Provide Ukrainian and Russian translation support to our national 116000 hotlines including translation of information pages and leaflets and call-in support when they request from Ukrainians on the hotlines;
  • Work with technology providers to further develop MCE’s reporting forms, cross-border case management and database interoperability, and with legal advisors to ensure GDPR is respected;
  • Support to set up of new 116 000 hotlines in the European region, which will include, among other responsibilities, working closely with national and European stakeholders (e.g. NGOs, public authorities, etc.), advocacy with national authorities, capacity building of the hotline, awareness raising, and ensuring quality control;
  • Liaise with other actors in the missing and found fields, including national and international missing children and people organisations, child protection services and anti-trafficking organisations, to develop strong cooperation protocols to ensure children are reunited with their families as quickly and safely as possible, and that all families of the missing receive answers;
  • Monitor policy developments regarding missing children and children at risk from Ukraine and support in formulating policy recommendations in response;
  • Coordinate with our communications team and NGO Magnolia on spreading the word about Magnolia’s services, the 116000 number and our website on missing Ukrainian children missingchildrenukraine.eu to all relevant audiences to ensure that all missing Ukrainian children are reported.

Profile, skills and background:

  • 2 – 4 years of relevant work experience;
  • Degree in psychology, social work, education OR degree in translation EN/UA/RU with good people skills;
  • Excellent command of Ukrainian, Russian and English required;
  • Excellent people skills, excellent organizational skills;
  • Experience in, and understanding of, general children’s rights/child protection issues;
  • Experience in projects, NGOs, EU and/or police cooperation would be an asset;
  • Ability to work with people from different professional and cultural backgrounds;
  • Availability to travel based on the need;
  • Ability to work well with others in a small team;
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently as well as under pressure;
  • The applicant must have the legal authorization to work in Belgium.
