Milieu Consulting is a multi-disciplinary consultancy based in Brussels with a record of excellence in international and European policy and law – in fields such as environmental protection, energy, climate change, fundamental rights, justice, home affairs, public health, consumer protection, financial services, agriculture and health and safety. We are seeking to reinforce our Operations team with a full-time team member who will be responsible for the co-ordination of events within Milieu and, in parallel, support the business development team in the preparation of proposals when time allows. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, be an excellent communicator and have an eye for detail.

Key tasks will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

The co-ordination of Milieu events (conferences, workshops, focus groups, online or in-person), including:

  • Designing the event;
  • Budgeting;
  • Identifying and engaging contractors where necessary;
  • Dealing with invitations, registrations and travel & accommodation when necessary;
  • On-site support (in-person events);
  • Live technical and operational support (online events).

Support to the business development activities:

  • Identifying and liaising with experts and partners;
  • Supporting through the proposal process (from initial identification of potential opportunities to the final (e-)submission of a high-quality product);
  • Preparation of templates and administrative documents;
  • Contribution to budget preparation and negotiation.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

  • Relevant University degree in European affairs, business administration, communication, public relations. Other profiles with previous exposure to EU events’ organisation or tendering will be considered;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in co-ordinating professional events, in person and online. Previous experience within the EU sphere (institutions, consultancies or advocacy groups) is a strong asset;
  • Proficiency in the use of digital events’ organisation tools, including MS Teams and Webex;
  • A genuine interest for business development;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including diplomacy;
  • Attention to detail. Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt quickly to changes under pressure;
  • A “can-do” take charge, self-starting personality;
  • Outstanding spoken and written English;
  • Knowledge of French or Dutch is a definite advantage.
