Job Description

Reporting directly to the Head of the Programmes Department, they manage all the activities related to the actions aimed at supporting the organization mission in their area of competence. Design, plan and develop campaigns and projects in line with LAV's strategic plan. They are responsible for the results achieved in their area and, to this end, they design, implement and evaluate the campaigns.

ACTIVITIES AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

  • They define and design any Advocacy activity relating to the Research without Animals Area;
  • They design, implement and coordinate the campaigns and projects relating to the Research without Animals Area according to the programmes decided by the association at the national and European level;
  • They represent LAV in national and international events related to the Area;
  • They represent LAV in the "Eurogroup for Animals" Network for the activities of the Area and participate in meetings and in the development of European projects and policies related to the Area, as well as in the other UE coalitions joined;
  • They coordinate the activities of the Area Scientific Advisor in order to ensure that LAV actions are supported by appropriate and relevant scientific data to achieve the area's objectives;
  • They collaborate in Lobbying activities in agreement with and in support of the Institutional Relations office in the review and development of the relevant regulations for the Area of competence;
  • They represent the association before the media regarding their area of competence;
  • They are responsible for the budget definition and management of their area of reference;
  • They develop and manage local, national and international, private and institutional partnerships for their area of competence;
  • They coordinate the logistics and organisational activities related to their campaigns;
  • They actively engage with the world of research, and in particular with scholars, scientists and centres engaged in the development of alternative methods to animal testing, and support the growth of the latter activities;
  • They collaborate with the Legal Department to:
    • Monitor law enforcement on court cases;
    • Monitor the management of animals in custody and their possible judicial profile;
    • Acquire protocols.
  • Coordinate LAV volunteers on the territory in the thematic activities that concern the Area of competence;
  • They are responsible for the pre- and post-event analysis activities relating to the campaign topics, the campaigns themselves, their conduct and their future developments in the short and medium term;
  • Ensure activities of research and adherence to the cruelty-free standard for cosmetics and household cleaning companies.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • University-level education - Science;
  • At least three years' experience in advocacy for NGOs or other non-profit organisations;
  • Basic knowledge of ethology and biology, veterinary or medicine;
  • Knowledge of the scientific research environment;
  • Excellent communication, relational, active listening and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent project writing and project management skills;
  • Knowledge of the methodologies for the preparation of dossiers and reports;
  • Ability to define and manage budgets;
  • Excellent advocacy and institutional relationship management skills;
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken);
  • Excellent ability to design and manage awareness and mobilisation campaigns;
  • Writing press releases and articles;
  • Ability to use and communicate through social networks;
  • Good knowledge of Office applications (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint), e-mail and the Internet;
  • Excellent work organization skills;
  • Problem solving;
  • Ability to work on a team;
  • Accuracy, flexibility and proactivity;
  • Good knowledge of the issues addressed by LAV and strong motivation to work in the non-profit sector;
  • Confidentiality and Classification;
  • Availability to travel in Italy.
