The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual & Reproductive Rights (EPF) is recruiting a communications assistant for a period of 6 months. This will be a full-time paid position. This position is ideal for a junior professional.

About EPF

The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (EPF) is a network of members of parliaments from across Europe who are committed to protecting the sexual and reproductive health of the world’s most vulnerable people, both at home and overseas.

We believe that women should always have the right to decide upon the number of children they wish to have and should never be denied the education or other means to achieve this that they are entitled to.

Job Description

  • Support EPF’s communication work in traditional media:
    • Drafting of op-eds and press releases;
    • Contacting journalists;
    • Monitoring relevant media.
  • Support EPF’s communication work across social media channels:
    • Designing and scheduling social media content for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram;
    • Live-tweeting at events;
    • Creating social media toolkits for partners and members.
  • Support EPF’s research projects:
    • Proofreading reports;
    • Designing publications.
  • Support EPF’s online platforms:
    • Aggregating content for a new mobile app for parliamentarians;
    • Aggregating content for new EPF website;
    • Drafting monthly EPF newsletters.
  • Support EPF’s office work:
    • Assisting in event organisation for international parliamentarians’ events;
    • Conducting administrative tasks, such as managing a participation tracker.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Relevant university degree (for example, politics, communication, European studies, journalism);
  • Excellent written English and proof of published written work;
  • Good knowledge of social media networks, social media management tools and analytics;
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision;
  • Impeccable attention to detail; flexible, proactive and resourceful with good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Computer savvy and creative;
  • Willing to travel occasionally for conferences or study tours;
  • Commitment to EPF’s vision and mission;
  • Must be able to legally work in Belgium.

Desirable:

  • Background in communications;
  • Knowledge of content management systems (particularly Drupal and Wordpress);
  • Knowledge of international development and global health issues as they affect Low and Middle Income Countries;
  • At least one additional EU language;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign and/or Canva.
