Working as part of the Sales Team, the Business Development Intern will directly support business development and sales activity in the region by helping identify new business opportunities. You will also help foster retention and growth of the existing book of business and help foster a smooth and effective account management across a wide portfolio of international clients.

This role is hands on and requires a mature and focused individual who has an eye for detail, is strong at planning and executing and who likes to think outside of the box. You will thrive on working in a team in a fast-paced environment, whilst also being comfortable working independently with a can-do-attitude.

To support your growth as a professional, you will receive support from your manager and colleagues through various training opportunities and meetings. You will have the opportunity to support with some high-profile accounts that make a meaningful difference to the success of our business.

This role is based at our Brussels office. Colleagues spend some of their working week in the office and some days working from home (usually 2-3 days in the office per week).

What are we looking for?

If applying as part of your studies, the candidate should still be in their studies for the entire duration of the internship. If applying after your studies, you should have at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) Degree. For both options, a degree in Business, Management, Marketing, Communications, Political science, Economics, Law (3rd year or above) is preferred.

  • Excellent writing skills in English and another European language;
  • Some experience within the Legal, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Communications/PR, Media, Information or Research space would be an advantage;
  • Willingness to work in a challenging and commercially driven sales environment;
  • A good command of the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Intellectual curiosity and be detailed-oriented;
  • Experience of social media and digital marketing would be an asset.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will

  • Support the lead generation function for both the EU and UK through prospection research, social media activities and strategic initiatives such as (but not limited to) market sizing, new business planning and mapping, account mapping and planning, and competition analysis;
  • Develop set of new contacts with decision-makers and influencers;
  • Support the Business Development Managers and Account Managers in day to day duties;
  • Effectively working alongside other colleagues and departments to help ensure a smooth interactions with clients and that market needs are being met;
  • Help positioning the features, advantages, and benefits of all Dods products.
