The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is looking for an expert enthusiastic about all things automotive to help shape the vehicle industry’s policy in matters of vehicle safety and technical regulations.
Job description:
Reporting to ACEA’s Head of Safety, the Technical Regulations and Safety manager will:
- Represent ACEA and its members in our discussions with the European institutions, in UNECE forums, and with other international regulatory bodies;
- Support the development and drafting of ACEA positions on matters of type approval regulations and safety for passenger cars, trucks, and busses;
- Manage ACEA expert groups with and for ACEA members and partners;
- Monitor technical and regulatory trends, and inform ACEA management accordingly;
- Develop ACEA strategies and positions on vehicle regulations. Oversee the creation of a consensus amongst ACEA members and other stakeholders;
- Ensure that ACEA members are informed on key developments pertaining to vehicle homologation and safety. Analyse and interpret regulatory proposals and draft for further development and consultation;
- Plan for technical studies and use them to effectively reach ACEA objectives;
- Report to ACEA’s Head of Safety and CTO on significant developments within the technical and regulatory fields.
Profile:
- Successfully completed degree in vehicle engineering or in a comparable course of study;
- At least five years of experience at a vehicle manufacturer as a specialist or manager in whole vehicle development or similar tasks;
- Knowledge of vehicle type approval and other technical regulations, their inception and practical implementation;
- Knowledge of or willingness to quickly get up to speed with the workings of the European Union;
- Very good communication and networking skills. Ability to describe complex technical systems to non-experts;
- Ability to listen to and steer discussions to find consensus and compromise amongst competing parties;
- Fluent English skills. Any other European language is an asset;
- Based in Brussels, or eligible and open to become based in Belgium.
