Objective of the traineeship
The traineeship will enable a last year or recent graduate to develop experience in applying differentiated approaches in and developing analytic products for fragile and conflict affected contexts. You will support a number of workstreams in the social policy unit in 2025 including:
- Updating baseline data on EIB operations in fragile and conflict affected contexts for 2024;
- Performing analyses of EIB portfolio in fragile and conflict affected contexts to identify key trends;
- Supporting for development of the results and measurement framework for operations in fragile and conflict affected contexts;
- Supporting for operations in fragile and conflict affected contexts and identifying lessons learnt from previous operations.
Across these priorities there will be a strong focus on furthering the EIB’s work on the themes of fragility and conflict, emergency and disaster responses, gender equality and women’s empowerment, migration, disability and LGBTIQ rights. You will help facilitate these efforts through using their background in fragility and conflict, peace-building, social development, sustainable finance or a related subject to provide analysis and insights on EIB operations and activities, document lessons learned, support knowledge management, contribute to training and awareness building and support coordination efforts internally and with other stakeholders, including the relevant Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) working groups.
Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Contribute to the development of internal portfolio information and analyses for operations in fragile and conflict affected contexts;
- Collect and analyse data using internal systems and prepare briefings and periodic internal reports on operations in fragile and conflict affected contexts across the Bank;
- Contribute to outreach and awareness raising efforts on conflict and context sensitivity within the Bank, including presentations and trainings;
- Support knowledge workflow and coordination on technical assistance on fragility and conflict, including across the various helpdesks and technical assistance facilities by region;
- Work with colleagues to collect and/or assist to collect case stories, best practice documentation, lesson learned; and update and manage that information in project's reports and other knowledge products.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
- Final year of studies or University degree of a MENA/ACP partner country in International development, conflict and peacebuilding, Social development, Social anthropology, Gender studies, Public policy, Sustainable finance, or other related and relevant fields;
- Knowledge of designing tools for data collection and analysis, writing and production of reports; Good interpersonal, communications, and facilitation skills;
- Knowledge of managing databases; Analytical knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft applications;
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to conflict, fragility and peace-building, gender equality and/social inclusion issues including outside of the EU would be a significant advantage;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French.
