Founded in 1995, the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA) is an international non-profit trade association, based in Brussels since 2013. With over 200 members globally, we represent the manufacturers of biocontrol solutions, established alternatives to control pests and diseases effectively in an environmentally friendly way. A large percentage of IBMA members are small and medium Enterprises (SMEs). Our members’ solutions enhance biodiversity, soil health, and fulfil the sustainability goals consumer’s demand.

As the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will lead the planning and implementation of IBMA’s marketing, communications, and member engagement activities. As a membership organisation, IBMA aims to provide members with high-quality content that is informative, tailored, and easy to access – building strong engagement. From growing our digital presence to supporting the industry’s flagship event, ABIM (ABIM.ch), you will ensure our voice is clear, consistent, and impactful across all platforms, showcasing IBMA’s value to the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing

  • Promote the benefits of IBMA to members, prospective members, policymakers, farmers, and stakeholders across the food value chain;
  • Ensure communication campaigns resonate with members to build engagement and retention, while also attracting prospective members;
  • Collaborate with the IBMA advocacy and technical teams to maximise the impact of their content and activities;
  • Work with the Executive Director to optimise income opportunities from ABIM and other events.

Communications

  • Develop a communications strategy aligned with the IBMA strategy, defining the type and level of communication required to (i) effectively convey IBMA’s key messages to external audiences, and (ii) keep members informed and engaged;
  • Create clear, consistent narratives and key messages that reflect IBMA’s mission and priorities;
  • Produce high-quality, engaging content for the website, newsletters, presentations, and campaigns;
  • Maintain momentum on social media through regular, timely, relevant, and engaging posts;
  • Oversee multimedia production, including graphics and video content;
  • Finalise the launch of IBMA’s new website, ensuring content is up to date, accessible, and aligned with IBMA’s tone and brand identity.

Membership Engagement

  • Build a strong member community, ensuring members feel valued and have a positive experience with IBMA;
  • Strengthen relationships with members and identify opportunities for improved engagement;
  • Support the Executive Director in expanding a global membership network;
  • Finalise the setup and implementation of a new membership engagement platform, supporting onboarding and member awareness;
  • Ensure accurate data migration and support the team’s effective use of the platform.

Event Management

  • Provide leadership, on behalf of IBMA, for the Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM.ch), the premier international biocontrol event. This includes co-developing the conference programme, managing IBMA members’ needs, and overseeing speaker outreach;
  • Organise webinars and online events in collaboration with the IBMA Secretariat.

Staff Management

  • Manage consultants, temporary staff, and other communications personnel as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in communications, marketing, or a related role;
  • Proven experience in international event management is essential;
  • Proven writing, storytelling, and visual communication skills;
  • Experience with website content management (WordPress preferred) and email marketing tools; experience with membership management platforms is an advantage;
  • Tech-savvy, with strong knowledge of social media and digital communications;
  • P&L management;
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for sustainability;
  • Strong teamworking skills;
  • Native-level or fluent English; a second European language – preferably German – is an asset.

A permanent full-time contract under Belgian law with a competitive remuneration package including extra-legal paid leave, group insurance, lunch vouchers and a pension scheme. 

This position is Brussels based but exceptions may be considered for the right candidate.
