We are looking for an Environment and Sustainability officer with strong technical and regulatory understanding of environmental and sustainability policies to be based in either the EUnited office in Brussels or Frankfurt. We are looking for someone who understands the technical dimension of environmental regulation and can engage confidently with both company experts and policymakers.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordinate EUnited’s cross-sector Environmental and Sustainability Committees;
  • Monitor, analyse and provide early warning on EU product-related environmental and sustainability regulations (e.g. substance legislation, waste legislation, ecodesign ...);
  • Develop industry positions and technical input papers;
  • Represent EUnited and its sectors in meetings with EU institutions, stakeholders and industry alliances;
  • Participate in relevant European and international meetings and events, including standardisation committee meetings, and take on associated administrative responsibilities;
  • Contribute to advocacy strategies and campaigns on key environmental files;
  • Ensure alignment and information flow with sector groups, committee chairs, member experts and the EUnited staff.

Your profile:

  • University degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, physics, engineering, or a related technical field;
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in EU environmental, chemicals and/or sustainability policy;
  • Solid understanding of the EU product-related environmental and sustainability regulatory frameworks;
  • Ability to analyse technical regulatory texts and translate them into practical implications for manufacturers;
  • Team player, proactive and structured mindset;
  • Confident communicator with both technical and policy audiences;
  • Experience working with industry, technical experts, or manufacturing sectors. Experience in standardisation is a plus;
  • Excellent drafting skills in English. Additional languages are an asset.
