We are looking for a new Director to lead our dynamic and internationally renowned Human Rights and Business Department.

YOUR EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Master’s or PhD level qualification in relevant field (e.g. law, human rights, development, political science);
  • 10+ years working in human rights and/or business and human rights;
  • 5+ years’ experience managing diverse team(s) of knowledge workers in international human rights/development context;
  • Demonstrated comprehensive project management, budget management and fundraising skills;
  • Demonstrated communication and facilitation skills;
  • Living and working experience from different countries, ideally including developing countries;
  • You have experience with management of academics and researchers;
  • Languages: Indispensable - English (working language); preferable - ability to understand Scandinavian;
  • Clear asset – French, Spanish, Arabic.

ABOUT THE HUMAN RIGHTS AND BUSINESS DEPARTMENT

Situated in the International Division of the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the vision of the Human Rights and Business Department is a world where business contribute to sustainable development and realisation of human rights of all.

Our mission is to foster responsible business conduct through working with states, businesses, rights-holders and other relevant actors – including by supporting the creation of appropriate guidance, capacity, policy, regulatory and remedial frameworks for business to respect human rights.

The Department comprises of two distinct programmes, Business and Accountability and Corporate Engagement, which are populated by highly professional academics. LOCATION

You will be posted in Copenhagen and your position involves management responsibility for some 13 professionals in Copenhagen as well as 3 staff abroad.

As Department Director, you are part of the International Division management group referring to DIHR’s Deputy Executive Director.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The duty station is Copenhagen with expected international travel. Salary is at “chief advisor” level with the possibility to negotiate individual supplements in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
