The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the EU Knowledge and Learning Manager in Brussels, Belgium.


The role is overall responsible for holding the overview of the performance of the EU Account and relevant donor’s trends. The post holder will create and develop tools to enhance Save the Children EU Account performance. The role will focus on two key areas of work:

  1. data collection and analysis to inform strategic thinking, positioning and external engagement;
  2. tailor-made capacity building to respond to the needs of the EU Account (covering DG ECHO, DG INTPA and DG NEAR). This role is central to the efficient delivery of the Save the Children Europe steer delivery in 2022-2024.


  • Demonstrable knowledge of DG INTPA/NEAR and/or DG ECHO (funding instruments, proposal writing, compliance, lobbying);
  • Proven experience with project cycle management, including narrative and financial reporting to donors in particular DG INTPA/NEAR and/or DG ECHO;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the design and development of training materials for a range of audiences using a variety of methods, e.g. in person facilitation and online presentation;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and track record of analysing large data sets and using this analysis to issue recommendations/guidance tools for a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership;
  • Understanding of contemporary issues relating to humanitarian and development aid funding;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Responds well to competing demands and works well under pressure;
  • Excellent relationship building skills in relation to forming and maintaining both internal and external relationships;
  • A committed team-player, able to work well in a small, multi-cultural, multi-language team and at the same time with a large, diverse complex, matrixed, multi-member, virtual organization;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English), including presentations, both for internal and external audiences with appropriate attention to detail;
  • Willingness and ability to travel;
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s mission, values and approach.

This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
