IMPALA, the European association of independent music companies, is looking for a MEMBERSHIP AND PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR to help co-ordinate its Brussels-based team on membership, administration and finance work as well as our relevant projects such as Friends of IMPALA programme, equity, diversity inclusion work, EU projects, etc.

99% of Europe’s music companies are SMEs. Known as the “independents”, they are world leaders in terms of innovation and discovering new music and artists - they produce more than 80% of all new releases and account for 80% of the sector's jobs. IMPALA’s work covers a wide range of issues and projects, including our own award schemes.

This is a key role in the organisation, a great opportunity for candidates who love organising and working across a range of issues. We are looking for a go-getting problem solver who relishes being at the heart of an association that is fast moving and multi-tasking in the cultural sector.

MAIN TASKS

  • Membership coordination – first point of contact for IMPALA members and Friends of IMPALA;
  • Handling the daily finance work of the organisation in collaboration with the social secretariat, banks, accountant, etc.;
  • Coordinating specific projects as they develop, for example helping members with projects to access finance and other common projects such as our equity, diversity inclusion programme for members, contributing to EU projects;
  • Drafting and proofing notes, updates, board papers, reports and other material for members of the association;
  • Developing IMPALA's Friends programme and animating the network, dealing with queries, promoting their offers to members etc.;
  • Participating in the internal/external communication of the organisation (statements, website, social media postings, newsletter);
  • Carrying out administrative tasks in line with the daily life of a small organisation, including dealing with suppliers, keeping track of expenses. Providing support to other members of the IMPALA team, travel arrangements, looking after website, making sure IT issues are addressed etc.;
  • Organising office and external meetings and looking after the logistical organisation of events;
  • Helping monitor EU media and music press - online, EU institutions' websites, social media, etc.

DESIRED PROFILE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified in relevant field such as administration, finance, management, European affairs, political science, music business, etc.;
  • Ideally 3 years of experience already in an administrative/finance role and/or business management role and/or music sector and/or trade association;
  • Excellent verbal and written English, ideally as a first language, plus excellent French (to take care of administrative tasks in Brussels);
  • Problem-solver mindset, keen eye for detail, excellent people skills;
  • Enjoys learning new skills and dealing with a mix of tasks;
  • Computer literacy (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, website tools, CANVA, social media etc.);
  • Basic understanding of the functioning of European institutions and decision-making processes;
  • Experience in EU projects, organisation of events, surveys, or other organisations working with membership is an advantage;
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet short deadlines, multi-task and organise a team;
  • Interest in music and how the sector works.

Start date: 1st of June 2023

Full time and permanent role, starting with a one-year contract, based in Brussels, Belgium (our offices are close to the EC district and the city centre, easily accessible by public transport). Teleworking part of the week is also possible. Great opportunity for a professional looking for a new opportunity in key role in a small dynamic organisation.
