2. About the job

Temporary Agency Work and Hair & Beauty are exciting and dynamic sectors within UNI Europa. The sectors have developed several EU-financed projects over the years and continue engaging in the dedicated social dialogue structures and ensuing projects in line with the adopted work programmes of the respective social dialogue committees.

The Temporary Agency Work sector has developed a project entitled “Capacity Building in the Temporary Agency Work sector”. The Hair & Beauty sector has developed a project entitled “Monitoring and furthering the autonomous implementation of the European framework agreement on occupational health and safety in the hairdressing sector”.

As the Project Coordinator responsible for the two sectors, you will have a key role in assisting with the implementation of these projects. Some of these activities will include providing strategic input, conducting research and preparing documents, communicating with affiliates and employer associations representatives on important developments, as well as facilitating interactive workshops and other meetings.

As Project Coordinator your main tasks will be to:

  • Handle the projects on a day-to-day basis (this includes the organisation and operational management of the different work streams’ project deliverables);
  • Work with affiliates and project partners to strengthen social dialogue;
  • Produce research, analysis and advocacy materials to support the work of UNI Europa Temporary Agency Work and UNI Europa Hair & Beauty, and its affiliates;
  • Work with affiliates to increase trade union power and implement the trade union strategies in the sectors;
  • Assist the Director with the development of effective relationships with employers and UNI Europa affiliates;
  • Organise and coordinate meetings with affiliates, the European institutions, employers and other stakeholders at the European level;
  • Monitor and report on policy and regulatory developments relevant to the sectors, including activities of affiliates;
  • Prepare material, presentations and publications, minutes, policy briefings and documents for relevant sectoral meetings, conferences and forums (coordination of the process, formatting, translation, proofreading, inserting changes, etc.);
  • Carrying out practical organisation and follow-up of meetings, events and trips including administering invoices and reimbursements;
  • Organising and maintaining a good filing and archive system;
  • Performing other operational, administrative, technical and logistical tasks;
  • Select meeting topics and facilitate interactive workshops with the goal of building European-wide trade union responses for the respective sectors;
  • Assist the Director of Temporary Agency Work and Hair & Beauty to develop follow-up projects;
  • Plan, organise, lead and draft reports of all project related meetings, workshops, and conferences as well as ensuring the appropriate implementation of project outcomes and deliverables, including the review of project deliverables and policy papers.

More generally, the Project Coordinator will provide to a limited degree various operational and administrative support to the Director of Temporary Agency Work and Hair & Beauty.

The Project Coordinator will report to the Regional Secretary and the Director of Temporary Agency Work and Hair & Beauty.

3. The Successful Candidate

Our successful candidate will have:

  • A strong personal commitment to the goals of UNI Europa and the trade union movement;
  • Strong writing, public speaking and communication skills;
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of a second official UNI Europa language (German, French, Swedish), spoken and written is essential. Knowledge of any other languages is an advantage;
  • Prior experience working in trade unions, NGOs, social movements, campaigns and/or projects;
  • A deep understanding of contemporary labour problems, the challenges facing unions and the role comprehensive and strategic campaigns play in supporting union objectives in organising, negotiations and policy matters;
  • The ability to engage in responsible financial oversight of activities and projects respecting budgetary limitations;
  • An advantage for candidates is experience in trade union work at national and/or international level in some of the key areas of work mentioned above and research experience relating to trade unions or international workers’ rights would be an advantage.

In addition, the successful candidate:

  • Can work well with affiliates and industrial relations representatives with differing experiences, industrial relations systems and trade union cultures;
  • Has experience in developing personal work plans and goals;
  • Has good inter-personal and partnership skills;
  • Has the ability to plan strategically and administratively and has effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

4. Remuneration
