Eurelectric is looking at its Brussels' office for a: Policy adviser on electricity wholesale markets to join the Markets & Customers team in the Eurelectric Secretariat.

Job description

As wholesale markets policy advisor, you will:

  • Develop your knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and business intelligence through daily interactions with industry experts and stakeholders;
  • Monitor and analyse legislative and policy developments on wholesale electricity markets and other related areas;
  • Contribute to Eurelectric's advocacy for a well-functioning integrated wholesale electricity market as a key driver to deliver a stable and cost-conscious supply of electricity to the industry and individual consumers and contribute to Eurelectric's advocacy on the implementation of the recent Electricity Market Design Reform;
  • In particular, contribute to work streams linked to the implementation and reviews of electricity market guidelines (Capacity Allocation & Congestion Management, Electricity Balancing and Forward Capacity Allocation). Handle working groups and contribute to the preparation of Committee meetings;
  • Interact with members to build consensus and develop Eurelectric's positions and policy recommendations on electricity wholesale market integration projects and other electricity market-related issues;
  • Ensure timely delivery of consultation answers and reports;
  • Develop and implement lobby campaigns and ensure external representation towards the EU institutions and other stakeholders, such as ENTSO-E and ACER, notably in the Market European Stakeholder Committee.

Requirements and competencies

  • An appropriate university degree (energy economics, engineering, political science, or law);
  • A good understanding of EU energy policy-making and lobbying;
  • 2 years hands-on experience in electricity market regulatory issues and processes;
  • Ability to deal with high level of technicity on electricity markets;
  • Excellent organizational and communication (writing and oral) skills;
  • Ability to learn fast, be proactive and adapt to a variety of tasks;
  • Fluent in English, other languages a plus;
  • Interest in working in a fast-moving international environment.
