Seldia,​ ​the European Direct Selling Association, has a vacancy for a Part-time​ ​Communications​ ​Manager.

Seldia, The European Direct Selling Association is the main representative body for the direct selling sector at European level. Its members include 28 European Direct Selling Associations and 19 multinational companies. Seldia represents directly through its corporate members and indirectly through the national associations over 500 direct selling companies with annual sales in excess of 20 billion euros.

Direct selling is a method of marketing and retailing goods and services directly to the consumers, in their homes or in any other location away from permanent retail premises. It is usually conducted in a face-to-face manner, either where products are demonstrated to an individual, or to a group or where a catalogue is left with the consumer and where the direct seller calls later to collect orders.

Unlike direct marketing or mail order, direct selling is based principally on personal contact with the customer.

To support our team in Brussels Seldia is looking for a part-time Communications Manager. She/he will be responsible for developing and executing Seldia’s external communications programme and will report to the Executive Director.

The​ ​successful​ ​candidate​ ​will:

  • Execute Seldia’s external strategic communications programme as set by the Seldia Board;
  • Assess and develop Seldia’s online presence, including the managing and timely updating of the Seldia website and other stand-alone websites for other events;
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy and messaging for Seldia;
  • Draft communication materials as required (infographics, brochures, annual reports, op-eds, audio-visual and social media materials etc.);
  • Liaise with external communication suppliers and be responsible for the management and development of the visual identity of the organisation (including production processes;including branding and design with PR agencies, printers etc.);
  • Identify opportunities for media coverage, and act as the main contact for press and external enquiries;
  • Liaise with communication specialists of member organisations and companies;
  • Support the Internal Affairs Director with the organisation of events, including the preparation of event materials, outreach to speakers, drafting of invitations and event;reports etc.;
  • Analyse and prepare regular reports to measure impacts of communication strategy and improve performance.

Your​ ​profile:

Candidates should have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in communication with Brussels-based European associations, companies or NGOs;
  • University Degree in Communications or Journalism, or equivalent;
  • Outstanding written and spoken English (native speaker level);
  • Proven ability to draft a wide range of high-quality communication materials on complex issues;
  • Experience in developing and executing social media strategies and campaigns;
  • Good understanding of: MS-office 2016, Design software (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and/or Illustrator);
  • Proven experience in managing a Content Management System (CMS);
  • Experience from the retail sector is an asset.
