ROLE OVERVIEW

We need a capable and enthusiastic self-starter to support the marketing and business development activities for our Government Regulatory practice group. Based in Brussels, the role’s primary responsibilities are for the ACER and International Trade practices, as well as the Brussels office. They will be responsible for the development and implementation of structured and planned approaches across the full range of business development activities. This role will also support the practice teams in London, and will work closely with lawyers and M&BD colleagues in the U.S. and Continental Europe in support of these global practices.

As the Brussels office M&BD resident, this role will be advising and supporting Brussels partners and lawyers in implementing the office strategy, preparing the business plan, ensuring communication within the office, facilitating cross selling, business generation and client development. More generally, The role will encompass a range of business development and marketing activities including:

  • pitching and credentials;
  • client targeting and cross-selling;
  • client/sector and competitor analysis;
  • profile raising and marketing campaigns including communications such as directory submissions, brochures, online content (intranet and hoganlovells.com),
  • events; and
  • BD evaluation and reporting.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong previous experience of working in a marketing and business development role in a legal or similar professional services firm;
  • Prior knowledge and experience of competition and/or trade law is appreciated;
  • Experience working with partners/executives in a professional services setting;
  • Experience managing a team across locations;
  • A good degree from a reputable institution; a relevant post-graduate marketing or business qualification would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and (internal and external) client-facing skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to write compelling propositions;
  • A team player, but able to act autonomously with minimal guidance;
  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills both in writing and orally;
  • Commercial and strategic in outlook;
  • Strong project management skills and IT skills;
  • Pragmatic, robust, diplomatic and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities;
  • Able to think broadly and demonstrate a high level of initiative;
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude.
