The stagiaire will be based in the MSD Brussels Policy Centre (BPC) located in the heart of the EU district in Brussels. The stage is with the Brussels Policy team but will be specifically focused around MSD’s participation in the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI). Stagiaire S/he will support the IMI Project Lead within the BPC.

What will you do?

  • Perform a variety of support and general administrative assignments to support the IMI Project Lead, including data entry and tracking/correspondence;
  • Obtain data files by identifying appropriate file parameters extracting data from downloaded and/or imported data files;
  • Provide proofing support on claims submittals to double check totals, verbiage, calculations or general accuracy prior to IMI project;
  • Quality control. Verify completeness and accuracy of work. Alert the IMI Project Lead of issues or concerns impacting quality.

What skills should you possess?

  • Some knowledge of the IMI would be useful;
  • Interested in pharmaceutical policy and regulation;
  • University Degree in Health Information Management, Health Policy, Political/Social Science, Mathematics, Statistics and/or related field strongly preferred;
  • Strong analytical skills to review documentation gathered for audits;
  • Attention to detail is especially important;
  • The capacity to analyse and interpret legislation, rules and regulations;
  • Self-starter to seek out the next step, ask questions and pursue solution;
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Access, Sharepoint preferred;
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills; other languages are an asset;
  • Ability to work well in an individual and team environment;
  • You are flexible and can handle multiple tasks independently.

The selected intern will benefit from the experience in the following ways:

  • Gain a thorough insight into the workings of pharmaceutical lobbying in Brussels and processes within IMI Projects, internal rules, regulations and compliance processes;
  • Understand EU policy-making and the dynamics between the EU institutions (Parliament, Council, Commission, European Medicines Agency) in relation to pharmaceutical regulation and authorization of new medicines in Europe.
