IPC - Association connecting Electronics Industries seeks an experienced, entrepreneurial Senior Director to lead its government relations program in Europe.

*Note: this role is an Independent Contractor.

IPC represents the electronics industry supply chain globally. Headquartered in the US, IPC has regional offices in Europe, China and India and provides its members with products and services ranging from standards to certification and training to professional development to industry networking to government relations support. On behalf of its members, IPC advocates for policies which allow the electronics industry to thrive.

Based in Brussels, the Senior Director will lead IPC’s advocacy and government relations across Europe. In this role, he or she will work with IPC’s European Government Relations Committee and IPC’s wider membership to develop and implement a robust policy agenda. The Senior Director will coordinate IPC’s engagement with European policymakers and policy stakeholders, including peer organizations in the electronics industry.

IPC has steadily increased its commitment to European public affairs over the last decade. The new Senior Director will be expected to build upon this success and cement IPC as an indispensable voice in Brussels on all matters related to the electronics industry.

This Independent Contractor position reports directly to the Vice President of Government Relations based in Washington, DC.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the work of IPC’s European Government Relations Committee including the development and implementation of IPC’s European policy agenda and strategic engagement;
  • Serve as IPC’s chief representative focused on building and maintaining relationships with European policymakers, working with them to create opportunities for IPC to shape public policy;
  • Represent IPC and contribute technical and policy expertise in bilateral meetings, conferences and other events to promote IPC’s key interests & messages for European institutions;
  • Develop strong working relationships with IPC members in Brussels, like-minded associations and other relevant third-party stakeholders;
  • Monitor and proactively manage European lobbying compliance and reporting requirements;
  • Coordinate the organization of IMPACT, IPC’s annual policy event in Brussels, and organise and participate in other IPC events;
  • Support and promote membership outreach and recruitment activities in Europe;
  • Manage IPC’s outside lobbying consultants to achieve objectives assigned to these individuals;
  • Collaborate internally with IPC staff to ensure alignment with IPC strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in government relations, preferably in the manufacturing and/or technology industries as an Independent Contractor, preferably;
  • Established knowledge of EU policy and regulatory issues impacting the electronics industry;
  • Experience in working in or closely with industry associations;
  • Diplomatic skills, creative problem-solving and an ability to facilitate consensus on complex issues;
  • Confident networker, interlocutor and public speaker;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Self-starter, able to work independently but in close cooperation with a remote team;
  • Ability and willingness to travel in Europe and potentially abroad (Approx. 4-6 a year);
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English is a requirement; fluency in other European languages, particularly German or French, would be an asset.
