Metal Packaging Europe is a Brussels-based industry association, which brings together over 200 manufacturers, suppliers and national associations across Europe, in order to promote the benefits of rigid metal packaging at European level.

About the role:

We are looking for an EU Public Affairs Manager with at least 3 – 5 years’ experience in European Affairs who will lead the European affairs team within the association and coordinate MPE’s policy and political strategy on key issues impacting the metal packaging industry in the EU.

Your tasks:

  • Coordinate MPE’s EU affairs strategy, together with the EU Affairs team;
  • Stay on top of policy developments of relevance to the metal packaging sector;
  • Develop clear and concise positioning and messaging on key topics;
  • Develop and implement related advocacy strategies and action plans;
  • Develop/maintain relationships with the EU institutions and exchange information with policy makers about priority topics for Metal Packaging Europe members;
  • Represent Metal Packaging Europe externally and be a visible and credible advocate for the industry.

Profile:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in Public Affairs/policy;
  • University degree in a related field, preferably European studies, Economics, Law, Political Science;
  • Fluent (C2 minimum) in English (written and spoken). Any additional EU language will be an asset;
  • Excellent understanding and command of the EU Institutions and their decision-making process;
  • Good understanding of the EU Circular Economy and the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive;
  • Proven ability to work in a team and manage projects;
  • Good communication skills and feels comfortable writing articles, reports or position papers in English;
  • High level of flexibility and willingness to travel on average 2-3 days per month (mainly within Europe);
  • Autonomous, efficient, flexible and team player with good interpersonal skills.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Full-time and permanent contract;
  • Salary will be commensurate with the level of experience + additional benefits incl. meal vouchers;
  • Position based in Brussels, with occasional travelling within the EU;
  • Working in a professional, international and intercultural environment.
