About the Role

Samsung is looking for a Senior Public Policy Manager to join their expanding EU affairs team.

Reporting to the Director – Public Affairs, the new team member shall collaborate with the Director and other team members to develop and implement Public Affairs strategies and advocacy plans to respond to key EU policies and legislative initiatives by performing the following duties:

  • Establish and maintain relations with various EU Institutions (European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the EU) and ensure the sound implementation of the corporate policy, public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy;
  • Source policy intelligence, anticipate regulatory developments and monitor policy with regards to the following key areas:
    • EU and national digital policy (Security-, Privacy-, Data-, AI-, Platform- and Media);
    • Industrial policy on topics such as semiconductors, batteries, mobile broadband infrastructure.
  • Represent Samsung externally, e.g. in governmental and industry stakeholder meetings, be it vis-à-vis key EU institutions or towards industrial players as part of pan-European trade associations;
  • Reflect Samsung’s policy priorities in membership-based association working groups (e.g. DigitalEurope);
  • Facilitate the establishment of a European policy and public affairs function for Samsung that incorporates the EU affairs office as well as the policy work conducted on a member state level;
  • Develop and refine core messages and positions on the key policy areas including but not limited to digital/industrial policy.

About the Experience and skills

We are looking for a driven EU digital policy professional with the following background:

  • A relevant university degree, be it in policy, political science, international relations, EU affairs or a digital/engineering focus, with any other relevant academic qualification to be considered;
  • Proven experience in drafting and delivering public affairs strategies that target the EU institutions in particular, with any other public affairs work being an asset;
  • Experience in or strong affinity with EU digital and/or industrial policy, technology and innovation, with a particular focus on e.g. batteries, semiconductors, mobile broadband being a strong asset;
  • Experience of closely following policy developments and the ability to digest/translate said developments into language/content that is easily understood by a plethora of internal company stakeholders;
  • Ability to anticipate, grasp and quickly assess regulatory developments through a risk assessment business ramification lens for the company;
  • A solid network within the EU stakeholder landscape, be it among the key institutions and policy makers or among industrial stakeholders.

In terms of skills, the preferred candidate is going to bring along the following:
