In May 2018, the World Bank Group (WBG) adopted a high-level, principles based privacy policy reflecting international privacy standards (the Privacy Policy). Under this policy, the World Bank has created a privacy framework as well as a uniform privacy management strategy led by the Data Privacy Office. The Data Privacy Office will be headed by the Chief Data Privacy Officer who will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the privacy program (the Program).
The Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the privacy Program, which must operate in an effective manner that safeguards the World Bank’s institutional interests as well as those of its partners and clients. CDPO will report to the Director Operational Risk whilst having independence on data privacy compliance related matters. He or she will be required to have deep familiarity with privacy regulations as well as established privacy programs (i.e., Internal management setup) including:
