Senior Policy Manager – Consumer Affairs and Digital Single Market


Brussels, Belgium

The Association covers a number of important topics related to Europe’s digital progress. The topics covered range for example from consumer policy, data protection to e-health and digital transformation of Europe’s industrial base. The Senior Policy Manager will be an important member of the team. He or she will develop and advocate industry positions that fulfil the vision of the organization on Consumer Affairs and Audiovisual Content.

The candidate(s) should demonstrate

  • Master level university education in law, political science, EU studies or other relevant studies;
  • Between 3 and 5 years of relevant work experience (policy/advocacy);
  • Experience with policy work in Brussels is a plus;
  • An understanding of European politics and of Brussels’s advocacy scene;
  • A keen interest and understanding of challenges for the tech and digital sectors preferred;
  • Pre-existing knowledge in consumer and audiovisual policy preferred;
  • Ability to work independently and in a relatively small team;
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), other European languages will be a plus;
  • Use to work efficiently both face to face and on a distance using communication technology as enabler;
  • Strong integrity and the ability to prioritize and focus;
  • Persuasive communicator and networker with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Customer/service-focused..

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Monitor legislation and regulatory developments affecting the consumer and audiovisual space;
  • Provide early warning intelligence and impact analysis of regulatory proposals for our sector and its members;
  • Develop and coordinate DIGITALEUROPE’s positions;
  • Develop and execute effective outreach and advocacy campaigns on EU consumer affairs and single market issues;
  • Organise and attend meetings with key decision makers and stakeholders in Brussels and member states;
  • Represent the organisation and its members in public and social fora;
  • Further developing and gaining expertise in policy and legislative domains of the consumer acquis and access to the digital single market access;
  • Provide day to day operational support to the DIGITALEUROPE’s consumer policy group and related working groups;
  • Provide support to the PR and media team in developing content for the website, social media and other communication tools;
  • Support the organisation of internal and external meetings and events.
