‘Business as usual’ is destroying our planet. But it is possible to live well without harming nature. From renewable energy to ecological farming, change is afoot – governments are just too slow to embrace real solutions. We are looking for an experienced, creative and motivated political campaigner to help challenge the EU to forge a sustainable path, preserving the environment for future generations.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and implement political and advocacy strategies on EU policies as part of the Forest&Agriculture team;
  • provide Greenpeace with strategic advice related to food and agriculture, forest and land-use policies;
  • maintain active relations with European decision-makers;
  • partner with NGOs and other allies to develop common or complementary advocacy strategies;
  • draft briefings, letters, blogs, and contribute to reports;
  • act as a spokesperson.

About you:

  • a strong desire to contribute to the protection of the environment and to political change;
  • a good listener, happy networker with an ability to inspire action in people of different political persuasions;
  • at least five years of relevant professional experience, in particular in the areas of food and agriculture, forest, land-use, biodiversity;
  • excellent policy analysis and strategic planning;
  • experience in making change happen through public campaigns, and the ability to view environmental policy in terms of campaign opportunities;
  • good knowledge of the decision-making processes of the EU institutions;
  • self-motivation, stress-resilience and ability to work as part of a team;
  • very good spoken and written English, and fluency in at least one other EU language;
  • ability to work with people from different backgrounds and to establish supportive work environments.

  • a CV of maximum two pages (no photos, please);
  • a cover letter of no more than one page, outlining your motivation and including the date when you would be able to start;
  • a short essay (max 600 words) on: "Two things I would do if I were the next President of the European Commission".

The deadline for applications is 23:59 CET, 5 May 2019. The first round of face-to-face interviews will take place in the weeks of May 20 and 27th.

The ideal starting date for you would be 1 September 2019.
