The Research Services and Career Development Department of the University of Vienna is seeking to recruit a European Programme Manager. The Department offers advice to University of Vienna researchers on all questions concerning the grant application process for external research funding and helps facilitate research and knowledge exchange. This challenging role provides pre-award support to researchers at the University who would like to co-ordinate externally funded projects.

This role is a fixed term contract for 24 months.

The position would be ideally suited to a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, with excellent planning and organisation skills, in addition to a good understanding of the implementation of externally funded projects. She/he should be able to work collaboratively with academic and research support staff to deliver a comprehensive administrative support service to the University.

Responsibilities

  • Support in writing and building project applications for consortium leaders of the University of Vienna in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe;
  • Supporting the University in its preparation for Horizon Europe;
  • Support in the grant application process, in particular for EU projects, including prescreening and budgeting of proposals;
  • Targeting and searching for funding opportunities;
  • Support in the resolving of project implementation issues in line with internal University regulations and policies and funder guidelines;
  • Responding to project-related queries from principal investigators, international project partners, central service officers and European Commission project officers;
  • Assist principle investigators in the use of online reporting tools;
  • Contribute to the overall work of the Research Services and Career Development Department and undertake other such duties as required from time to time;
  • Support the central reporting related to project applications;
  • Contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

  • University Degree;
  • A proven capacity to be proactive, to work independently and to manage and prioritise the workload;
  • To convey an appropriate rationale and interest in applying for this particular post;
  • Experience of dealing with externally funded projects;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with a diverse range of people;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English and German;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills;
  • Experience of supporting the implementation of externally funded projects and knowledge of project management;
  • Knowledge of European funding programmes for Research.
