Your mission

Vacation and wage compensation Labour and social law, and retirement pensions are SOKA-BAU's primary fields of activity. The position belongs to the interest representation in our office in Brussels. The European Union level is driving the majority of political decisions and legislation governing those areas. You will monitor current EU initiatives in order to help the company stay timely informed on various related issues, and generate impact on them. There, you will help represent our interests before European institutions, agencies and associations, and will maintain contact with media and relevant public and private stakeholders and partners in Brussels, in addition to office management tasks. You will take part in technical meetings, analyse legislative and non-legislative initiatives and procedures, and carry out political and legal research. You will provide support in preparing presentations, in particular on European labour and social law, including financial services with focus on retirement policies. Furthermore, you will plan and prepare public events. You report to the head of Brussels office, and you will regularly exchange and discuss your information and findings with your contact persons in SOKA-BAU, including on site at our headquarters in Wiesbaden.

Your background

European law is your specialty, including labour and social law. Your expertise is based on your legal or other relevant university degree, or at least 3 years of relevant practical professional experience. You are familiar with institutional processes at EU level, and you are fluent in English, German, and French (both written and spoken). As you will be working primarily from our office, you will ideally already live in Brussels, or are prepared to move there. You are used to work independently and to take a proactive role toward raising issues and in shaping projects. You are familiar with commonly used IT systems, and you are comfortable with institutional settings and with presenting your positions in a diplomatic and precise manner.
