EIT Health - a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) under the umbrella of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) - is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and education in the domain of healthy living and active ageing. EIT Health brings together leading organizations along the entire value chain from smaller companies to larger industry, excellent academic and research institutions, as well as public sector organizations, to promote healthy living, support active ageing and improve healthcare by removing barriers to innovation, promoting talent and education, leveraging enabling technologies and exploiting big data. EIT Health Central Office is in Munich and will develop its activities across a network of Regional Innovation Hubs (regional offices) in six cities: Paris, London, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Stockholm, and Mannheim. In addition, the InnoStars office in Budapest involves Partners from Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and Italy. EIT Health includes more than 130 partners.

EIT Health executes a portfolio of 100+ projects per year across three main “Pillars” of activities, namely Innovation, Business Creation and Education. Each “Pillar” is made of Departments that are led by a Head of Department who reports to the respective “Pillar” Director.

Role Location: EIT Health Central Office, with possibility to work remotely.

Works with:

At Central Office:

  • You work closely with the Education Director and the Head of the ‘Entrepreneurship Education” and the wider Education Team;
  • You interact with the Operations and Finance Teams to ensure smooth management of activities from writing call documents, managing the activities and related budgets in the relevant internal software/platforms.

At Regional Innovation Hubs (offices):

  • Each Regional Innovation Hub has one Education Manager, you collaborate with them to gain understanding of local needs and gaps;
  • Education Manager also act as referent for specific tracks in the Education portfolio. As Head of Professionals Education, you engage with the relevant Education Managers to ensure deployment and monitoring of the activities you oversee.

Responsibilities:

As Head of the Professionals Education Department, you oversee the EIT Health Education & Training portfolio destined to healthcare professionals, workforce as well as the public (citizens and patients).

EIT Health is a matrix organization, initially there are no direct report to the Head of Professionals Education Department, the position engages with team members across the organization at Central Office and across the Regional Innovation Hubs (offices).

In that capacity, you will:

  • Monitor the performance of the portfolio of education activities you oversee (KPIs, impact, revenue generation);
  • Perform environmental scanning to validate priorities in gaps and needs in view of qualifying upcoming and future calls for proposals;
  • Analyze existing and past portfolios and collaborate with Education Managers in the regions to identify opportunities for enriching the EIT Health portfolio with mature/existing education programmes;
  • Lead and manage the Call for Proposals process of the specific sections of the EIT Health Business Plan and Call Documents per EIT requirements, including reporting;
  • Design and implement project monitoring and reporting processes, including but not limited to the use of digital tools;
  • Contribute to the overall financial sustainability and revenue generation strategy collaboratively with the other Heads and the Education Director;
  • Enhance reliable co-operation by engaging with all “Pillars” (innovation, business creation), support functions, internal and external EIT stakeholders such as international representatives, corporate partners, EIT and other EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs);
  • Execute data analysis and produce visuals and reports that support management decisions.

Functional Skills and Experience:

  • A talented individual with 10+ years’ experience in working in the space of either medical education, adult learning, and instructional design, and who is keen to engage in the needs-driven, evidence-based design of education interventions that led to demonstrable outcomes;
  • Also brings 10+ years of international project management skills. Experience in running projects within Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe framework is a significant plus;
  • Leadership and management skills: being able to motivate, moderate and mediate team members, develop joint goals;
  • Experience in working with healthcare professionals and support workforce is essential, either from work experience in not-for-profit organizations, learned societies or similar;
  • An ambitious and driven professional that can best combine analytical thinking with creativity and operational execution;
  • A proactive, independent, and results-oriented person with great organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Process- and structure-driven and passion for operational excellence;
  • Command of English language (written, spoken) is mandatory. Additional European languages is a plus;
  • A team player who sees value in working in an international environment, in a matrix organization;
  • True passion for the domains of EIT Health (healthy living and active ageing);
  • At ease with IT environment, system-oriented, online platforms, data-driven.

  • An open and positive attitude to working in a constantly changing environment;
  • Willing and able to travel regularly across Europe.
